The book analyses our country’s fundamental foreign policy issues during the period in question exhaustively and in depth. The authors look at foreign affairs and diplomatic activities in the Baltic region as well as in the context of European international relations. The approach chosen by the authors ensures insight into the international situation at the time and gives the reader the opportunity to gain an understanding of the appropriateness of the decisions made and actions taken by the Latvian foreign
The authors pay great attention to the historiographic analysis making an effort to point out the common
and the different in representatives of various historic schools of thought. A new theoretic approach has
been worked out regarding the role of subjective factors in the history of Latvia, the role of western
nations in the destiny of Latvia and a unique approach to the Baltic issue the Baltics is offered along with
